Senator Christopher “Bong” Go’s team visited fire victims in Barangay 101, Tondo, Manila, on February 24, to extend assistance and demonstrate Go’s continuing commitment to helping Filipinos in times of crisis.
Go cited Republic Act No. 12076 or the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, which he principally authored and co-sponsored. The law mandates the establishment of disaster-resilient evacuation centers in all cities and municipalities to reduce the burden on makeshift shelters during calamities.
He also underscored the importance of strengthening fire prevention and response measures, citing RA 11589, or the Bureau of Fire Protection Modernization Act of 2021, which he principally authored and co-sponsored.
The law mandates a ten-year modernization plan that includes enhanced training, better equipment, more firefighters, and nationwide fire prevention campaigns in coordination with local government units.
The ten fire victims gathered at Brgy. 101 Daycare Center in Tondo, where the senator’s team distributed snacks, vitamins, shirts, balls, fans, grocery packs, and water containers. The beneficiaries also received financial assistance.
