Senator Christopher “Bong” Go dispatched his Malasakit Team to extend additional aid to displaced workers in Cagayan de Oro City on Friday, December 12.

Through the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program, beneficiaries received short-term employment assistance after completing ten days of work.

The TUPAD distribution was facilitated in coordination with Barangay Indahag Captain Marlon Bongay. A total of 37 displaced workers were assisted during the activity and also received shirts, pens, foldable fans, and balls from the Malasakit Team.

To strengthen worker protection nationwide, Go filed Senate Bill No. 177. Under the proposed measure, the Rural Employment Assistance Program (REAP) would be established to provide temporary employment opportunities to qualified individuals affected by economic hardship, poverty, displacement, or seasonal unemployment.
